FAIRFIELD COUNTY DISTRICT LIBRARY
BOARD OF TRUSTEES POLICY: CODE OF CONDUCT — PUBLIC
PASSED BY RESOLUTION NUMBER: 46-97 (Revision of Resolution 36-83 dated 3/16/83)
DATE: 4/15/97
For the orderly operation of the facilities of the Fairfield County District Library, the Board of Trustees establishes the following code of conduct for library visitors:
Library visitors must act in a polite, orderly manner when using library facilities and dealing with library staff for any reason. Disruptive behavior is any behavior that library personnel deem to interfere with patrons’ full use of library services or the ability of staff to carry out their duties. Such behavior includes but is not limited to shouting, screaming, rude or abusive language, loitering, running, throwing objects and/or misuse of library materials, furniture or equipment
Library visitors must refrain from eating or drinking when using library facilities.
Smoking is prohibited in any library facility.
Use of alcohol or drugs in library facilities is prohibited.
Shirt and shoes are required for entry to any library facility.
No library visitor may enter those areas marked "Staff only" without accompaniment of a staff member.
Children under the age of six (6) must be accompanied by an adult in any library facility. Responsibility for their safety and behavior rests with their parents or guardians, not with library personnel.
According to the Ohio Revised Code (2935.041) “Anyone who knowingly moves, defaces, damages, destroys or otherwise improperly tampers with Library property is liable to prosecution. Anyone who intentionally deprives the Library of property without following proper procedures is liable to prosecution.”
These rules will be strictly enforced. Willful or continued violations may result in loss of library privileges. This code of conduct will be posted for public viewing in every Library facility.
