RESOLUTION NO. 2004-37

AUTHORIZING THE PROHIBITION OF CONCEALED CARRY WEAPONS

WHEREAS, the General Assembly has passed a Concealed Carry Weapon law in the State of Ohio;

WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees is granted authority pursuant to R.C. 306 et. seq. to issue rules and regulations governing the operation of the regional transit authority and the exercise of the powers granted to it;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Trustees of the Central Ohio Transit Authority.

Section 1. That COTA's rules and regulations, employee policies and operational procedures be amended to prohibit the carrying of concealed weapons in COTA's transit facilities and vehicles;

Section 2. That all of COTA's transit facilities display signage prohibiting the possession of a concealed carry weapon, in accordance with R.C. 2923.126(C)(3), R.C. 2923.1212(A)(9) and per Exhibit "A" incorporated by reference herein.

Section 3. That the President/CEO be, and hereby is, authorized to take such further action and execute and deliver such further documents as, acting on the advice of counsel, shall be deemed necessary to carry out the intent of this Resolution.

Section 4. That the Authority finds and determines that all formal deliberations and actions of the Authority concerning and relating to the adoption of this Resolution were taken in an open meeting of the Authority.

Section 5. That this Resolution shall become effective upon its adoption
