AFFIDAVIT OF KRISS A. SANDS

I, Kriss A. Sands, being first duly cautioned and sworn, hereby state as follows:

1. The statements contained in this affidavit are based on my personal knowledge.

2. This affidavit describes my experiences traveling barefooted through numerous airports on a recent trip.

3. On June 8, 2004, I departed from John Wayne Airport (Orange County), Santa Ana, CA. No mention was made of my bare feet as I walked through the terminal, went through security, and boarded the plane.

4. On June 8, 2004, I changed planes at O'Hare International Airport in Chicago, IL. This entailed a long walk from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2. Again, no mention was made of my bare feet as I walked through the airport and boarded the plane.

5. On June 8, 2004, I arrived at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, Greer, SC, claimed my baggage barefoot, and picked up a rental car. Again, no mention of my bare feet was made in that airport.

6. On my trip home on June 21, 2004, I again traversed the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport in Greer, SC. Upon seeing my bare feet, the security guard there simply reminded me to be careful. My outgoing flight from Greenville-Spartanburg was delayed, so I spent approximately four (4) hours there barefoot. Nobody ever told me that I needed to wear shoes, including the time walking through the airport, going through security twice, and boarding the plane.

7. On June 21, 2004, I arrived at O'Hare International Airport, Chicago, IL, in order to change planes. This entailed a long walk from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1. Due to the delays at Greenville-Spartanburg, I missed my connecting flight and was forced to spend the night at the airport in Chicago, during which time I walked throughout much of the airport barefoot. In the morning, on June 22, 2004, due to a change in boarding gates, I had another long walk from Concourse C to Concourse B. Not a word was said about my being barefoot during that approximately twelve (12) hour period that I was in the airport.

8. On June 22, 2004, I arrived back at John Wayne Airport (Orange County), Santa Ana, CA, claimed my baggage barefoot, and went home. Again, no mention of my bare feet was made in that airport.

9. I saw no evidence that bare feet were prohibited at any of the above-mentioned airports.

Further affiant sayeth naught.
